As a practitioner of Transcendental Meditation, I was particularly excited for this episode of Ranking The Beatles featuring Elroy (also of Crowded House and Wild Nothing) discussing "Sexy Sadie," which even the casual fan of The Beatles knows is about the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Elroy recently chatted with Alex Green of the Stereo Embers Podcast about his debut album (out this Friday via Grand Phony), touring with his Dad's band Crowded House and with his friends Wild Nothing and Connan Mockasin, plus much more! Green says the record "is a shimmering collection of sonorous indie pop that manages to be both spare and textured at the same time. Finn is a master of musical light division and his work is brimming with low-fi folk, thoughtful psychedelia, pure poetry, and a lot of heart."

Elroy’s “Worth The Wait" is out a week from today. I could say it will be “worth the wait," but you can ignore that pun and just listen to the song right now over at It’s Psychedelic Baby Magazine.

The self-titled album from the Finn family member (Elroy can also be see on drums with his dad Neil Finn’s band Crowded House, and has collaborated with Wild Nothing and Connan Mockasin) is out August 13 on Grand Phony.

Elroy’s “Excite Me Much,” writes Glide Magazine, “is a quiet and meditative morsel of indie pop [on which] Elroy is accompanied by minimal instrumentation beyond a drum machine and orchestra synths.” Glide has the premiere of the “darkly infectious” tune’s video.

FLOOD shares debut single by Elroy, "Excite Me Much"

FLOOD Magazine calls the new Elroy single "Excite Me Much” a "lounge-y, downtempo tune that boldly contrasts with its title,” while Elroy himself explains that "the guitar just sort of played the line from this song without me thinking or trying too much.” Well, jeez! I'd like to have my guitar write the songs for me, too! Hear it now!

After years of touring and collaborating as a drummer and multi-instrumentalist in various groups (Wild Nothing, Connan Mockasin), as well as with his family (extensive worldwide touring with his brother, Liam Finn and as part of Crowded House with his father, Neil Finn), Elroy Finn (going simply by Elroy) will release his debut self-titled album on Aug. 13th, 2021.

A talented multi-instrumentalist – “I was obviously surrounded by instruments a lot growing up thanks to my Dad, so I was very fortunate in that way,” he says – Elroy was written, produced, recorded, and mixed by Elroy himself.

A brief self-release of the record in his native New Zealand earned attention right away for the hazy, coaxing sound that Elroy says he hopes will “evoke the weightless feeling you get just before you fall asleep.”
