With a new video premiere, Beats Per Minute compares The March Divide to a bevy of heavy hitters including Big Star and Fountains of Wayne

VIDEO PREMIERE

With all due respect to Jared Putnam, the story here is: “This clip just so happens to star a puppet that could have been a background extra in Labyrinth.”

Yes! Maurice, the puppet star of The March Divide's “Tension In The Air” video (worked by director Hector at Subharmonic City Productions) is back, staring in the clip for “Corduroy,” a deep cut from the new album 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴, out now on Slow Start Records.

Beats Per Minute writer Josh Pickard says, “The song brings to mind the jangling echoes and chunky rhythms of bands like Big Star and Cheap Trick, but also lays some of its earnest adoration at the altar of mid-90’s alt-rock (I’m looking at you Gin Blossoms and Matthew Sweet) — a rumbling sound which was repurposed in the early aughts by bands like Fountains Of Wayne and Sloan.”

How could you not listen to that at work?!

V13 premieres "I Wanna Hate You" and notes The March Divide's deftness for blending "melody, levity, and popular appeal"

VIDEO PREMIERE

“The perfect blend of melody, levity, and popular appeal... pop-rock gems with lots of fun melodies and hooks.”

In their premiere coverage of the “I Wanna Hate You” video by The March Divide – in which a perfectly nice picnic goes perfectly wrong – V13 also calls the tunes on the new album 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴, “Sarcastic for sure, certainly humorous,” but also “rather confessional.” I love that!

𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 is out now on Slow Start Records. Jared Putnam's got lots of tour dates coming up that are also included in the article… Click for your life!

Nanobot Rock streams the new LP from "the most important Texas musicians you may have never heard of," The March Divide

ALBUM PREMIERE

Today at Nanobot Rock: a full-album stream of 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 by The March Divide, which arrives this Friday via Slow Start Records. "Throughout the record an air of throwback feeling melodies pair with optimistic instrumental backing to take The March Divide’s cathartic honesty and make it feel more present than ever."

I've been working with Jared for a long time and I've always felt he's been honing his skills for a record with the level of commitment to catchy melodies, self-aware humor, and relatable catharsis that is 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴. Just like the above quote states! This album is a fine piece of work to be very proud of.

Nanobot Rock takes on the short, sweet "acoustic prog" instrumentals from The March Divide's upcoming LP

TRACK PREMIERES

𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 is the new album by The March Divide, dropping via Slow Start Records on June 10. The album contains two short and sweet instrumental tracks, each automatically named for the street Jared Putnam was on when he recorded the voice memo. Nanobot Rock is teasing them out for us in anticipation of premiering the entire album this week. Go over and watch the "poetically rare Texas snow day" in "Mont Del Dr.” Then, dig “Dover Cir.,“ which ”quickly takes on an almost acoustic prog rock 3/4 sound reminiscent of Howe/Kaye."

Tune back this Wednesday for a stream of 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 in its entirety.

The March Divide's "Tension In The Air" is "perfect, necessary, and great" according to Central Track

FEATURE

Good evening! Here we are again, back for another edition of 𝘔𝘢𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘳, where we document the continuing adventures of this video star puppet.

"The March Divide is great... 'Tension In The Air' is the perfect example of a necessary viewing," said Central Track on Monday in its "Song of The Day" post.

"Perfect,” “necessary," and “great" are three words that should have you out of your mind excited to watch this video. Heck, we should all be using these words to describe ourselves personally, no? Self-care is important. This, my advice to you.

New album 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 by The March Divide is out June 10 on Slow Start Records.

In a new Spill premiere, The March Divide's Jared Putnam shares details about his Gin Blossoms influence

TRACK PREMIERE

A new single by The March Divide is out and I'm worried about Jared. Thanks to The Spill Magazine for posting "King of The Lost Cause" this morning, a song in which Jared is clearly trying to provoke our concern:

I’m at my best when I’m lost / I’m fucking up at any cost / That’s why they call me / King of the lost cause

Thoughts and prayers, bro!

𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 is out June 10 on Slow Start Records.

Ghettoblaster premieres the video for The March Divide's new "full-on rock song"

VIDEO PREMIERE

Well, would you look right here! The March Divide and Subharmonic City team up once again for a music video, this time for "I'm Not Perfect," the lead single from the upcoming 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 album out June 10 via Slow Start Records).

The peeps over at Ghettoblaster Magazine are presenting this one today, thank you! And thanks to Jared's producer, Mike Major, for making this song such a rocker, since my notes on everything are always "bring up the tempo, turn up the vocals." Jared explains, "Writing sad songs about loneliness comes naturally to me and this song was an idea that would check that box. When Mike listened to my rough demo, he heard it as a full-on rock song."

Many thanks out to the hard-working peeps of Big Takeover Magazine for this post!

Central Track shares The March Divide's new track, comparing it to the likes of Counting Crows and Gin Blossoms

TRACK PREMIERE

I love how Jared of The March Divide embraces his influences so unabashedly. Many don't, and it's too bad because an earworm is an earworm no matter the inspiration.

Today, Central Track calls "I'm Not Perfect," the first single (out tomorrow on Slow Start Records) from 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 (June 10th) "A ’90s pop rock-inspired track that’ll help you believe in better days," and we need a bit of that right this very minute.

"Compare it with songs from 𝘈𝘶𝘨𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 (Counting Crows) or 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 (Gin Blossoms) and it sounds inspired, but not taking direct lifts from those records."
